Division of Biomedical Engineering

The Oklahoma City Area Division of Biomedical Engineering (OCA DBE) provides biomedical engineering support for, but not limited to, IHS federally owned and leased, urban, and tribally operated (as negotiated) health care facilities for all diagnostic and biomedical equipment.

The OCA DBE objective is to provide high quality and economical biomedical and dental equipment support services for Oklahoma Area Clinics and hospitals. These services include preventive maintenance, repair and consultation for the purchase and installation and maintenance of biomedical, medical, radiological and dental patient care equipment. The DBE can also provide medical equipment management consultation and support to help ensure that the facility's medical equipment management plans are meeting all applicable regulations and compliance standards, such as those set forth by the JCAHO.

Specific activities of the OCA DBE include electrical safety inspections of medical and dental equipment, installation of new dental x-ray and other patient care equipment, repair of various dental equipment, preventive maintenance inspection of the radiology equipment and EKG machines, and evaluations of existing equipment capabilities. DBE also assists tribal and IHS facilities locate and acquire new and used replacement equipment.

DBE staff are strategically located throughout the area to provide bio-medical engineering services in the most efficient manner.
