The South Side Infant and Family Center (SSIFC) promotes secure relationships between young children and their parents, among urban families, and between parents and community-based support systems. The SSIFC staff has worked to create an environment responsive to the needs of families served, forge partnerships with community organizations, and connect with the diverse population of families in the surrounding community. By collaborating with organizations and programs like the St. Louis Public Schools System and Early Head Start, the SSIFC has been able to provide access to resources that are now in close proximity to the center enabling parents to not only connect to resources but also spend more constructive time with their children. The center offers open-times Monday thru Thursday for leisurely use of equipment and materials designed to encourage healthy parent-child interactions with the assistance of mentors and structured group sessions facilitated by well-trained, experienced personnel. The Center serves as a resource for parent-child attachment activities, parent education opportunities, child development referrals, and parent socialization.
