The PBM-MAP in partnership with VHA EES with the acknowledgement from the VA
National Transplant Program
presents:
“Transplant Therapy:
Treating the Unexpected”
Purpose: There are five VA transplant
centers located across the United States. As a result, many post-transplant
patients will need to receive routine follow-up care in other VA facilities.
Providers and other healthcare professionals within the VA that do
not routinely follow patients with transplant organs need to be educated on
how to manage health related issues specific to post-transplant patients.
The purpose of this program will include a discussion of a variety of
primary care issues that will arise when patients are stable and now
followed by primary care providers.
Issues included in the program will be a discussion of the various
immunosuppressants used in solid organ transplant; concerns that arise when
other medical conditions occur such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension,
diabetes as a result of taking immunosuppressants and the key points related
to post-transplant vaccinations.
