NIA Funding Line Policy for FY 2005

NIA Funding Policy for Competing Research Project Grant Awards, FY 2005

NIA welcomes the strong investigator interest in the fields of aging evidenced by the large numbers of research project grant (RPG) applications submitted to NIH and assigned to NIA in FY 2005. The Institute is committed to funding the most meritorious of these applications. Nevertheless, budget constraints necessitate retaining the funding line policy of reducing awarded budgets by an average of 18 percent below levels recommended in peer review for new and competing research awards in the current fiscal year to avoid more extreme reductions in success rate.
