Library of Congress Releases Holiday Schedule
The following is the holiday operational schedule, including closures, for the public for the Library of Congress through January 2009.
Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve)
All Library buildings, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will close at 5 p.m.
Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day)
All Library buildings, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will be closed.
Friday December 26
The Jefferson Building Great Hall and exhibits will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, all other buildings and spaces of the Library, including Reading Rooms, will be closed to the public. Access to the Jefferson Building is through the First Street SE entrances and the Capitol Visitor Center tunnel only.
Wednesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve)
All Library buildings, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will close at 5 p.m.
Thursday, January 1, 2009 (New Year’s Day)
All Library buildings, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will be closed.
Monday, January 19, 2009 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
All Library buildings, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will be closed in observance of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day)
All public Library buildings in the Washington D.C. area, including Reading Rooms, exhibits and public places will be closed on Inauguration Day. The Mount Pony Theater in Culpeper, Va. will be open for a public screening at 7 p.m.
