Where do I get a certificate? What kind of certificate do I need?

If you are using a third-party grants application system, your service provider can supply a certificate. You can also get certificates from a recognized certificate authority such as Verisign, Entrust, ACES, or Thawte (Grants.gov does not accept certificates issued by "Go Daddy.com" ). You will need a 1024 or 2048 bit RSA SSL certificate. The Applicant Web Services Security document provides detailed information on obtaining and using certificates.

Is it possible for me to create a synopsis via email?

You may create synopsis by either using the For Grantor Web Services or via email. To create a synopsis via email you must send an email to the following email address(es) in the table below. Please refer to http://www.grants.gov/assets/SystemToSystemSpec.pdf document for details.

*Please note: for <password>,

    - To publish on test system you must use the same password that is used for logging in through the Web Services browser.

    - To publish on production use the Activation Token.

How do I obtain an Activation Token?

In order to obtain an Activation Token, you must login as a grantor on production at www.grants.gov and select the "Manage Agency User Profile" link on the left navigation. Select "Reissue Activation Token" in the checkbox and then click submit. An Activation Token will be sent via email (to the email address associated with the login information used).

What happens if an application fails to reach my Agency's web service?

An email will be sent out every time a package is ready to be downloaded.

What is the proposed process for handling the validation errors encountered during the agency's data validation process (i.e. a dollar amount field is received as a negative number)?

System related issues that are encountered during testing will be communicated to the Grants.gov federal lead.

This includes validation errors due to data that does not conform to the published schemas. In production, issues will be handled through Grants.gov support. Data entry related issues that are encountered due to specific business rules enforced by an agency's system should be addressed directly to the applicant.

Can applications be downloaded more than once after the agency has sent the delivery confirmation?
There is no limit to how many times an application can be downloaded; however the application will only be available for a given period after the agency has sent the delivery confirmation. The amount of time the application will be available varies between applications.

Is there a limit on the size of the attachments?

The total size of any application package is 200MB including attachments.

How are the forms & Meta data going to be sent? If possible, could I get sample SOAP messages for each request?

Sample SOAP requests/responses have been posted to the Grants.gov site under S2S Integration Documentation.

Where can I find the updated version of "Grants.gov_XMLSchema-Implementation-Guide.doc" and the updated schema definition file EGrantsApplicationSchema20030819.xsd?

The Implementation Guide as well as other documentation is available on the Agency System-to-System page. The EGrantsApplicationSchema (recently renamed the MetaGrantApplication) is part of the published schemas, and was created as a "helper" schema to facilitate the parsing of the entire application XML document. The MetaGrantApplication Schema has been produced and was made available with the Web Services WSDL.

The particular forms that are included in the MetaGrantApplication Schema will vary from one opportunity to another. The schema location referenced in the element that encloses the header, footer, and opportunity specific forms will reference a dynamically generated schema that is specific to the opportunity.

Could I get the list of allowed mask types and formats for the fields mentioned below along with sample data - this will help us in parsing the data into agency specific formats such as Org DUNS ID, EmployerID, ZIP, Phone, Fax, Date?

The element types referenced in the schemas should provide the basic format for each of the fields mentioned. No additional validation will be performed by Grants.gov. Agencies can enforce additional business rules if desired.
