Council on Graduate Medical Education Eleventh Report— International Medical Graduates, the Physician Workforce, and GME Payment Reform

This report reviews the 1997 recommendations of Council on Graduate Medical Education on the physician workforce, international medical graduates, and graduate medical education (GME) payment reform. It makes new recommendations on the reduction of the number of GME positions, support for communities and shortage areas affected by loss of residents, revision of temporary visa programs, enhancement of Primary Care Residency Training, and the U.S. role in International medical education. The report includes tables and charts.
