WELCOME
Welcome to Nevada's Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation.
We are a very unique and complex operation. Most people, including those who work
in the criminal justice system, do not know or appreciate the breadth of our duties
or the multifaceted nature of our responsibilities. However, that is rapidly changing.
The Division of Parole and Probation (Division) is the second largest division of
the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and growing. We are looking for bright and
talented men and women who enjoy the challenge of protecting our community through
the various strategies and programs we employ to reduce crime, and of monitoring offenders'
conduct to ensure that they practice good citizenship. We invite you to learn more about the
Division by clicking on the subject title links listed on the left hand column. If you
click on the photo in the Command Staff section, you will see a short biography of that person.
We recommend that you click on "Overview" and
"Officer Expectations" which will
give you a very good understanding of "who we are and what we do". You will come away
quite impressed with the Division's mission to protect Nevada through our responsibility
to supervise parolees and probationers, some of whom pose a severe risk to the
safety of our community.
The Division is made up of both sworn and non-sworn personnel and while our web site
may showcase our sworn staff, it is our non-sworn staff that also plays a vital role
in our mission. As you look around our web site and learn more about us, we hope you
will be proud that we are serving you and our community.
We would encourage you to consider the Division of Parole and Probation and DPS
as a career. These are exciting times within DPS as a whole, and the Division in
particular. A very appealing advantage of working for DPS is the opportunity to
transfer or be promoted to another division; for example, you can spend several
years as a DPS officer with the Division of Parole and Probation and later transfer
to the Highway Patrol or Investigation Divisions. You are also eligible for several
other assignments, such as the Training Division or the Office of Professional
Responsibility, or for a specialized assignment to the fugitive apprehension team.
Again, on behalf of the men and women of the Division of Parole and Probation,
we thank you for visiting our web site.
