 PURPOSE: To serve and enrich the individual lives of Nevada’s citizens and visitors, recognizing the diversity of the state through leadership in cultural and information management, promotion of cultural resources and activities, and education.
The Department of Cultural Affairs is unique in state government because people actively engage its programs and facilities for direct, positive cultural experiences. The department is the flagship of Nevada government, showing both citizens and visitors the best benefit of exercising their franchise for the common good.
DEPARTMENT GOALS

Refine and enhance the department’s mission, structure, and identity, recognizing its strengths as well as its diversity.

Identify constituency needs and facilitate partnerships to increase support for and the success of meeting those needs.

Maintain, develop, and expand collections and associated services.

Encourage the preservation, care, and proper use of cultural resources throughout the state.

Foster cultural awareness and diversity.

Increase involvement with the state’s education system and with lifelong learning endeavors.

Strengthen intergovernmental relationships with Tourism and Economic Development.

Ensure that all services are available and accessible to all citizens and communities.
