Orphan Squirrels in Texas
Houston, Texas, October 1, 2008 -- Hurricane Ike orphans thousands of squirrels. The Society for the Protection of Animals (SPCA) recruits volunteers to nurse them for release back in the wild. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) works with government agencies and local volunteer groups to help care for pets, protected, and endangered species after a disaster. Leif Skoogfors/FEMA
