Abstract This study focuses on the development of effective strategies to alleviate traffic congestion for residents and tourists of barrier islands who encounter significant delays when traveling throughout the barrier islands and the mainland. The recommended strategies for alleviating traffic congestion for the barrier islands were developed through field observations, literature view, comprehensive data collection, and detailed traffic simulation analysis.
