Ambassador Bodde Signs Small Grant Agreements -- Reiterates Continued Support

Ambassador Peter Bodde signed grant agreements for seven community projects worth US$50,000 under the Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund on October 29.  The projects, which include construction, food security, water, and equipment purchase, are spread over seven districts in the northern, central and southern regions of Malawi.  [more]

U.S. Ambassador to Malawi Presents Credentials to President Mutharika

Lilongwe – U.S. Ambassador to Malawi Peter W. Bodde presented his credentials to President Bingu wa Mutharika on Tuesday, October 28 at the Presidential Palace.
In a brief statement delivered after the credential ceremony, Ambassador Bodde said the United States is a strong bilateral partner as Malawi advances its economic development and democratic foundation.  Ambassador Bodde commented, “We are a major donor in Malawi’s health fields, particularly in the work concerning HIV/AIDS and anti-malaria programs, and I look forward to seeing that these programs continue to be as successful as they are.”  Noting Malawi's growing reputation as a model in much of the developing world in dealing with HIV/AIDS and malaria issues, he added, “I think it’s the partnership and good work between our two governments that make this possible.”   [more]

New U.S. Ambassador Arrives in Malawi

Newly arrived U.S. Ambassador to Malawi Peter W. Bodde addressed Mission employees on Thursday, October 16.  Ambassador Bodde and his wife Tanya arrived on October 14 to begin their three-year stay in Malawi.  At the "town hall" event organized to welcome Ambassador Bodde, Deputy Chief of Mission Kevin Sullivan said Embassy Lilongwe is fortunate to have an experienced and dedicated career diplomat as Chief of Mission.  He said his extensive experience in the Foreign Service will help the Mission to achieve a great deal in many areas.
