Number of People aged 55–64

Over the past ten years, the number of U.S. residents aged 55–64 has grown dramatically. This large increase is primarily due to the aging of the baby boomers.

Number of people aged 55-64, 1984, 1994, 2004 and projected 2014, 2024, and 2034—the number of people aged 55-64 increased by 7 million from 1984-1994 to around 29 million in 2004 and is projected to increase another 10-12 million by 2014-2034 to around 39-42 million.
