Back To Business Workshop to Assist Southwest Louisiana Businesses

BATON ROUGE, La. -- On Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lake Shore Drive, Lake Charles, LA, a Back to Business Workshop will be held to provide the business community of the Southwest Louisiana region information and insight to help the recovery and restoration of the private sector. Starting at 8 a.m. and concluding by 1 p.m., the workshop will feature presentations from federal, state and local government leaders about loans and disaster assistance grants, contracting opportunities, public safety, public health, insurance, and other regional issues. The event is free and no advance registration is required.

Senior leaders from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the State of Louisiana and local leaders will attend and provide important information to help businesses and citizens recover. USDA and SBA personnel will be available to answer questions about the loan application process and other recovery related programs.

The event is open to all. Business owners, operators, managers and other private sector and community leaders in the Southwest Louisiana region are encouraged to attend this event to hear information that will contribute to their community's economic resurgence.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Private Sector Office in partnership with the Southwest Louisiana Partnership for Economic Development, the Chamber of Southwest Louisiana, West Calcasieu Association of Commerce, Jeff Davis Business Alliance, the Southwest Louisiana Partnership for Economic Development, and the City of Lake Charles organized this event.
