AUTHORIZATION
Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.; National Security Act of 1947, 50 U.S.C. 401 et seq.; Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended, 50 U.S.C. App. 2061 et seq.; Earthquake Hazards Reduction Act of 1977, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 7701 et seq.

OBJECTIVES
The program currently consists of 66 courses available to participants, with the objective of enhancing public and selected audience knowledge of emergency management practices among officials of Federal, State, local and tribal governments and voluntary organizations in response to emergencies and disasters.

PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In the preceding fiscal year there were 3,718,547 individuals completing independent study courses. Approximately 4,000,000 independent study course completions are anticipated by the end of the current fiscal year.
