Abstract:

This report assesses the rural/urban differences in rates of poor birth outcome and inadequate prenatal care. It examines data from the national Linked Birth-Death Data Set, evaluating rates of low birthweight, neonatal mortality, and inadequacy of prenatal care. The report compares outcomes in more remote rural areas versus less remote areas, and in rural persistent poverty counties versus other rural counties. It includes tables and related resources.
