One Week Left To Register For Flood Aid In Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Individuals and businesses in Missouri that have suffered damage from severe storms, flooding and tornado that occurred during the period of Sept. 11-24, 2008, have one week to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster assistance.

Recovery officials urge residents and business owners with disaster-related damage in the designated counties (Boone, Callaway, Chariton, Howell, Jefferson, Lewis, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Montgomery, Osage, Schuyler, St. Charles, St. Louis, Stone, Taney, Texas, and Webster counties and the Independent City of St. Louis) to register for FEMA's individual assistance if they have not done so already.

Call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 to register. Lines are open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Register online anytime at www.disasterassistance.gov.

The deadline to apply for assistance is Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.

The U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC), in University City (7210 Olive Blvd., University City, Mo. 63130) will end operations at the close of business Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Disaster SBA representatives at the DLOC are able to provide disaster loan applications, answer questions, explain the application process, and help individuals complete their loan applications.

The deadline to submit loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is also Jan. 12, 2008.  SBA loan applications are a key part of the FEMA registration process.  If you are a homeowner or renter and SBA determines your cannot afford a loan, you may be referred for other eligible assistance.
