School Field Trips

Guided tours are available for school groups free of charge. School tours normally last 3¾ hours and include:

• 1-hour guided tour in Museum, including Hoover Galleries and temporary exhibit
• 1-hour guided tour of National Historic Site, including the Birthplace House, Quaker Meetinghouse, Blacksmith Shop and Schoolhouse
• 30-minute film on the life of Herbert Hoover
• 15-minute visit to the gravesite of Herbert and Lou Henry Hoover
• 15- minute visit to the Museum gift shop
• 45-minutes for lunch in one of our picnic shelters

There is also an optional 30-minute self-guided Prairie Walk on the historic site's 81-acre tallgrass prairie, ending at the Hoover's gravesite. This option would be in lieu of the standard 15-minute gravesite visit.

You may also choose to participate in all of these activities, or omit any based on your preference or time constraints. Guided tours are available Monday - Friday starting at 9:00 am daily.

NOTE: April-May and September-October are our busiest months for school tours. Please schedule early in the year to ensure your preferred date and time are available.
