The following excerpt is from an article found in the Holmes Safety Association Bulletin for November 1992.
Mine rescue contests are designed to sharpen skills and test the knowledge of team members who would be called on to respond to a mine emergency. The contest requires team members to solve a hypothetical problem while being timed and observed by judges according to complex rules.
We have created an archive page for the contest materials not found here. They include 2001 Coal and 2000 and 2002 Metal/Nonmetal. Use the link provided below for access.
The 2008 Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Preshift Rules Training will be held during the week of April 7-11, 2008, at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy, Beaver, West Virginia. Team representatives, state agencies and MSHA are being given an opportunity to receive rule interpretations directly from the Chief Judges and Assistant Chief Judges.
