NOAA CIO Council

The NOAA CIO Council members include the NOAA Chief Information Officer, and CIOs from NESDIS, NMFS, NOS, NWS, OAR, and OMAO, plus the NOAA Deputy and Staff Office CIOs. It is chaired by the NOAA CIO. The Council meets weekly. Mandated by Clinger-Cohen, the Council promotes effective Information Technology practices throughout NOAA and and conducts reviews of the NOAA IT investment portfolio. The Council is the principal forum for cross-cutting upper management coordination and decision-making regarding IT. The CIO Council provides NOAA CIOs with a venue to gain from Line Office experiences, and share best practices, insights, and innovative solutions to problems. The CIO Council has the authority to establish standing committees and working groups as necessary to address areas of concern of the Council (e.g., Enterprise Architecture IT Committee, GIS Committee, Enterprise Messaging Committee, Network Advisory Committee).
