Abstract:

This newsletter focuses on adherence of people living with HIV/AIDS to a highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) regimen. It discusses the importance of adhering to a HAART regimen, the difficulty of maintaining the regimen, challenges in predicting and measuring adherence, and ways clinicians and other providers can support adherence. The newsletter includes information on the Ryan White CARE Act Special Projects of National Significance Adherence Initiative, which evaluated adherence intervention strategies. It includes references.
