The NIEHS receives its funding through an annual Congressional appropriation. The Office of Science Policy supports the NIEHS director and staff in defining and interpreting programs and research of the Institute to Congress, as well as to the public, scientific, and public health communities. This office further serves as a liaison between Congressional staff and various government, health, and science agencies and organizations to help ensure NIEHS accessibility by and responsiveness to the U.S. public.
