Stuttering Research Study

Examining brain function in stuttering children and adults

We are studying how brain activity differs in adults and children who stutter from fluent speakers. For this outpatient study, people will undergo speech and language testing and a noninvasive brain imaging technique called functional magnetic resonance imaging while they listen to sounds and speak.
Study procedures take 2-4 days for approximately 3-4 hours each day.

The study is being conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland; all costs for the study are paid for by NIH. Travel and lodging costs are supported by the NIH.
