Tulsa Homicide Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Colorado |
|
At approximately 5:30 yesterday afternoon, U.S. Marshals in Denver, Colorado
arrested John Richard Beato, who is wanted by the Tulsa Police Department
for the homicide of 25-year-old Antonio Flores who was found dead in his
mobile home days after the murder that occurred in August of 2007. Tulsa
homicide detectives requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals led Northern
Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force in the apprehension of John Richard Beato.
Tulsa detectives and U.S. Marshals received information that Beato had
possibly traveled to the Basalt, Colorado area shortly after the homicide.
On October 7, 2008, the U.S. Marshals led Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes
Task Force contacted the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Location Apprehension Group
(F.L.A.G.) Task Force in Denver to assist
in the apprehension effort of Beato. Shortly after 5:30 yesterday afternoon,
Deputy U.S. Marshals, assisted by Basalt Police, located the vehicle Beato was
riding in and apprehended Beato without incident.
John Beato was transported to the Eagle County Jail in Colorado awaiting
extradition back to Tulsa, OK.
Annually, U.S. Marshals arrest more than 50 percent of all federal fugitives
and serve more federal warrants than all other federal law enforcement
agencies combined. The U.S. Marshals also assists state and local agencies
in the apprehension of fugitives and extradites them back to the United
States when detained in foreign countries.
