Austin Area Homicide Suspect Arrested
in San Antonio

TX – Edward Tovar Jr., 17, of Austin, suspected of fatally
stabbing 24-year old John Reynero during an altercation in Southeast
Austin on September 30th was arrested on October 9th, by the Lone
Star Fugitive Task Force in the 9700 block of Grissom Rd. in
Northwest San Antonio. Tovar was taken into custody without
incident. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force determined during the
course of their investigation that Tovar had fled the Austin area
shortly after the stabbing. The Task Force initiated surveillance at
a possible location where Tovar was later observed leaving with an
unidentified female.
Tovar was wanted for stabbing Reynero in the 2300 block of Blue
Meadow Dr., in Austin according to the Austin Police Department. Two
drivers had a near-collision on Blue Meadow Dr. and exchanged words.
One of the drivers later returned to the scene with Reynero, who was
stabbed, even thou he had not been at the original scene. Reynero
was taken to Brackenridge Hospital and died later in the day.
Tovar was remanded to the custody of Bexar County Jail pending
extradition to Travis County.

Department – Intelligence Unit, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar
County Sheriff’s Department, Travis County Sheriff’s Department,
Texas Rangers, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
LaFayette Collins, United States Marshal for the Western District of
Texas states, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force will utilize all
resources at their disposal to hunt down fugitives who commit
senseless crimes”. |
