THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS SHOOTER FROM GEORGIA

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force acting on information provided by the United States Marshals Service led Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force from Atlanta, Georgia, arrested Derrick Charles Francois in San Antonio.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007 Lone Star Fugitive Task Force members caught up with Francois in the 4800 block of Raybon in San Antonio. Francois is wanted out of Georgia on 5 counts of Aggravated Assault by Shooting. Francois opened fire in a public train station and shot 4 innocent people while trying to hit his intended target, whom he missed. Francois has a history of firearms violations. In 2005 Francois fired shots at police officers in New Orleans and was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer by Shooting.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “The community should breathe a little easier tonight knowing that Francois is behind bars. His propensity towards violence without regard to innocent people is reprehensible. The members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force are to be commended for their dedication to making the streets safer.”
