Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST), along with members of
the Dallas Police Department, arrested Corey Caldwell at the Lido
Adult Theater located at 7035 John Carpenter Freeway in Dallas, TX.
Caldwell was wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for
Escape. The arrest ended a lengthy, joint fugitive investigation by
the Dallas County Sheriffs Office and DFW FAST.
According to court records, on October
13, 2006 Caldwell appeared in court in reference to Engaging in
Organized Crime warrants that were issued April 2, 2004. Caldwell
surrendered on June 23, 2004. He was then released on bond. The
charges for Engaging in Organized Crime were related to
approximately 60 home burglaries in the Desoto and Duncanville areas
of Dallas County. Upon the forfeiture of Caldwells’ bond, he was
ordered detained and arrested by Dallas County Sheriffs Deputies.
Caldwell managed to escape from a temporary holding area prior to
being transferred into the Dallas County Jail system. Caldwell is
considered a possible suspect in over 200 similar home burglaries
that have occurred since the escape and in the same area as the
original home burglaries.
According to Randy Ely, United States Marshal for the Northern
District of Texas, the DFW FAST is to coordinate & assist state and
local departments in the apprehension of violent criminals. By
working together, DFW FAST has managed to arrest over 6000 violent
fugitives since the establishment of the task force in January 2004.
DFW FAST consists of 21 participating agencies located in the Dallas
Fort Worth metropolitan area.
