Fugitive Escapee Captured in Georgetown, Ohio

Aster Brewer, a fugitive who walked away from a local Dayton halfway was captured in Georgetown Ohio by members of the Georgetown Police and the Brown County Sheriffs office after a multi county investigation spear headed by the United States Marshals.

Aster Brewer was convicted in 2004 for being a felon in possession of a hand gun and received a forty-six month sentence to federal prison. In July 2007 Brewer was transferred to a halfway house in Dayton to finish his federal term of imprisonment. On August 12, Brewer fled the halfway house and began attempting to conceal himself in and around Dayton, Ohio

On September 19, 2007, Deputy United States Marshals assisted by Montgomery County Sheriffs Deputies, Dayton Police and FBI agents began their search in earnest after receiving tips that Aster Brewer was at several different locations in Dayton. During their investigations and interviews information began coming in that Brewer had decided to flee Dayton.

One tipster advised that Brewer had been transported by a family member to an address in Georgetown Ohio. US Marshals notified the Georgetown Police and the Brown County Sheriffs Office that a wanted federal fugitive may be in their area.

At about 11pm on September 19, 2007 law enforcement surrounded the address supplied by the tipster, made entry to the home and located Brewer hiding in the basement. Brewer has received an additional charge of Escape from Federal Custody and will have an appearance in front of a federal Magistrate.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. U.S. Marshals annually capture more federal fugitives than all other federal law enforcement agencies combined.
