Arrest of Homicide
Suspect, Marvin Davis

Marshals in Delaware have arrested a second suspect in a New Castle
County, Delaware homicide. The fugitive was found Monday afternoon,
hiding under a pile of clothes in a Selbyville-area apartment.
Marvin Davis, 20, who
was found just after 5 p.m., faces murder charges in the death of
Michael Flakes on June 5. U.S. Marshals had been searching for Davis
since he was identified as a suspect and eventually the trail led to
Hickory Tree Apartments in rural downstate Delaware. After days of
surveillance, marshals spotted Davis on Monday coming out of an
apartment building. Deputy Marshals then entered the building and
arrested him in the master bedroom. Davis was trying to hide from
police under a pile of clothing.
The homicide occurred on
Tuesday, June 5 at 9:41 p.m., in the unit block of Clyde Street, in
the community of Belvedere, Delaware for multiple reports of
“shots-fired.” The investigation has revealed a disturbance occurred
just outside of a residence on Clyde Street that led to the
shooting. The 17 year old victim Michael Flakes suffered an apparent
gunshot wound to the lower torso and died at Christiana Hospital.
The second victim sustained a minor injury to his torso area.
Davis is charged with homicide in the first degree and related
charges. He is being held at the Young Correctional Institute in
Wilmington, Delaware.
On June 6, James Cooper an accomplice was arrested by the United
States Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force in the City of
Wilmington.
The United States Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force
is comprised of members of the Marshals Service, Delaware State
Police, Delaware State Probation and Parole, New Castle County and
Wilmington Police Departments. The state and local officers were
sworn in as special deputy U.S. Marshals in order to provide them
with broader jurisdictional authority. |
