Arrest of Jose
Delacruz
The U.S. Marshals First
State Fugitive Task Force arrested Jose Delacruz, 21 years old, at
11:30 am on March 27, 2007. Delacruz was wanted on one count of
Murder from the Roxbury District Court, Boston, Massachusetts. The
murder occurred in the early morning hours of February 8, 2007 in
the Roxbury section of Boston. Since December 21, 2006, Delacruz had
been on Level 4 Supervision from Delaware Department of Corrections,
Probation and Parole for a November, 2004 conviction in New Castle
County for Conspiracy and Maintaining a Vehicle for Distribution of
a Controlled Substance.
Earlier this month, First State Fugitive Task Force Members received
information from the New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking
Area (HIDTA) Fugitive Task Force in Boston, MA that Delacruz may be
in the Wilmington, Delaware area. After a brief investigation and
surveillance, Delacruz was located at his grandmother’s residence
located at 2412 North Market Street, #309, Wilmington by Task Force
Officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Delaware Probation and
Parole, New Castle County Police Department, and the Boston Police
Department. He was arrested without incident.
Delacruz was immediately transported to the New Castle County Police
Department for his arraignment and extradition hearing pending his
return to Massachusetts.
U.S. Attorney Colm Connolly and U.S. Marshal David W. Thomas would
like to say that this arrest was made in the section of Wilmington
known as a Weed and Seed area. Weed and Seed, a community-based
strategy sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), is an
innovative, comprehensive multi-agency approach to law enforcement,
crime prevention, and community revitalization. |
