APPREHENSION OF CONVICTED RUSSELL
COUNTY SEX OFFENDER

Marshal for the Middle District of Alabama, announces that on the
evening of April 12, 2007, a team of state and local law enforcement
officers led by U.S. Marshals arrested Charles Thomas Gaddy Jr. in
Columbus, Georgia.
Gaddy was arrested on federal charges for possession of child
pornography. In June of 2006, Gaddy was arrested for possession of
obscene material by Opelika Police Department. Those charges are
pending trial Lee County, Alabama. Gaddy was convicted in Russell
County, Alabama in January 2002 for sex offense-obscene act.
U.S. Marshals and members of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task
Force along with the assistance of Opelika Police Department
received information that Gaddy was living with family in Columbus,
Georgia area.
Marshals identified the location and arrested Gaddy without
incident. He is currently being held in federal custody pending
court proceedings.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in
the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More
federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal
agencies combined.
