MONTGOMERY, Al. -- The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) announced today the closing of Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Atmore, Brewton, Saraland and Bay Minette. The DRCs will close on Saturday, July 30.

For those affected by the disaster, help continues to be available after the DRCs close. Those with questions about assistance or low-interest disaster loans can call the toll-free teleregistration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585.

DRCs closing on Saturday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. are:

Escambia Ag. Science Ctr.
175 AgScience Drive
Brewton

Saraland Comm. Ctr

It is not mandatory to visit a DRC, but visiting one of the four scheduled for closing by the end of the day on Saturday, July 30, may provide an opportunity to acquire additional information on disaster assistance programs, or simply meet face-to-face with disaster recovery specialists. Personnel at the center will be able to provide referrals to other federal and state assistance programs.

Applicants still having questions can call the FEMA Helpline which provides information and can be used to make a change to an existing application. The Helpline number is the same as the FEMA teleregistration number listed above.

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following an incident of national significance. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
