There is a risk of malaria in Playa del Carmen,
a tourist destination on the coast of the Yucatan peninsula,
in a rural area of the state of Quintana Roo. No risk exists
in major coastal resorts (such as Cancun and Cabo San Lucas),
in Mexico City, or along the United States-Mexico border.
