HuGENet™ Collaborators Spotlight |

This month, HuGENet™ is pleased to spotlight the The Human Variome Project. This organization of international collaborators aims to collect all genetic variations within the human genome in a freely accessible system for use by researchers and health professionals. In April 2007, a summary of the Human Variome Project and recommendations developed during a meeting in June of 2006 were published in Nature Genetics:

As of May 1, 2007, the HuGENet™ website contains 27,135 research studies indexed in the HuGE Published Literature database, referencing 2,835 genes, 942 factors (personal or environmental), and 3,362 health outcomes/diseases. Both epidemiologic studies and review articles can be found in the database which includes 60 HuGE Reviews and 481 meta-analyses. Please see the GDPInfo Summary of Contents for more details.
Note: The count of health outcomes indexed in the database is based on a query that groups similar outcomes according to ICD-9 codes. This figure is different from the total numbers of records listed in the Genomics and Disease Prevention Information system (GDPInfo) portal Health Topics A-Z.
