Rep. Andrews Praises Creation of New African-American Library

On September 6, the first ever online library containing the most comprehensive information on the political history and legislative legacy of African-Americans was launched by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF).  I would like to congratulate the CBCF on this important achievement, and encourage all Americans to visit this site so that we may better understand the significant impact African-Americans made in the shaping of our nation’s democracy.

The online library, called Avoice (or African-Americans in Congress), provides an inclusive resource for researchers, students, and all citizens interested in learning more about our nation’s history.  It will help stimulate civic engagement for our nation’s youth, and all Americans.  Please visit www.avoiceonline.org to take a look for yourself.

America is a nation that embraces diversity.  It is my hope that this new library will help us to better appreciate our diversity, and understand its past, present, and future.  Only by embracing and understanding our differences will this great nation continue grow and thrive.
