Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for the City of Palmdale and City of Lancaster, California

Shows Changes to the Special Flood Hazard Area for Sand Canyon Lateral

LOMR Effective Date: September 29, 2008
Area Affected: Sand Canyon Lateral - from approximately 450 feet downstream of Robinson Ranch Road to approximately 1,350 feet upstream.

Overview/Background

This LOMR is an update to the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) Panel No. 06037C0845 F and Profile Panel 165P, of the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for Los Angeles County and its incorporated areas, scheduled to become effective on September 26, 2008. The new FIRM and FIS report incorporated a LOMR effective May 15, 2000 (Case No. 00-09-025P), which revised the Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs), the areas that would be inundated by the base (1-percent-annual-chance) flood, using the previously effective National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Flood elevations on the September 26 FIRM are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988. This LOMR updates FIRM Panel No. 06037C0845 F and Profile Panel 165P to reflect the appropriate vertical datum, therefore superseding the September 26 FIRM Panel and affected portions of the FIS report for the revision area. This LOMR does not revise the SFHA boundaries or Base Flood Elevations from the May 15 LOMR along the revised reach.
