LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Clark County residents who sustained losses or damages as a result of the recent severe storms and flash flooding have only three more days to visit the FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center on Tropicana Boulevard, federal and state disaster recovery officials announced today.

The Disaster Recovery Center is located at 1455 E. Tropicana Blvd., Suite 650, where state, federal, and volunteer agencies are available for more information on disaster.

Reduced visits by disaster victims this week indicated the need for the entire recovery center is no longer necessary, according to officials. However, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will still be present to assist people in the application process.

"The Disaster Recovery Center hours starting Wednesday will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the center will transition to an SBA Disaster Office after Friday, Aug. 6," said Kamala Carmazzi, state coordinating officer. "But assistance with state and federal programs will be as close as a telephone call."

Disaster victims may still register for assistance by calling toll-free 1-800-462-9029. Those who are hearing- or speech-impaired can call 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).

"For those who want more information after registration, or to inquire about the status of their applications can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321," said Michael Lowder, federal coordinating officer.

Disaster assistance programs include temporary housing, additional grants for unmet needs, and low-interest SBA loans for flood-damaged residences and businesses.

The SBA will have loan officers at the Disaster Recovery Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 6. The center will then become an SBA Disaster Office effective Saturday, Aug. 7. On Aug. 7, the SBA hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The SBA Disaster Office hours of operation beginning Aug. 10 will be 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., Tuesday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday until further notice. The disaster office provides one-on-one assistance in completing loan applications.
