CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Operating hours for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free registration line and toll-free Helpline will change as of Monday, June 14. Beginning Monday, the registration and Helpline numbers will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CDT) Monday through Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Renters, homeowners and business owners with storm damage should apply for assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029. The toll-free registration line was established for residents and business owners in the 14 Iowa counties designated eligible for individual disaster assistance because of the severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes in May.

Those who have already registered and still have questions about available programs or the status of their applications can call the Helpline at 1-800-525-0321. People with hearing or speech impairments may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 to register with FEMA and to have questions answered.

To date, more than 2,600 applications have been received. Everyone who had any losses or damage from the storm should call and register for assistance.
