Honolulu, HI -- More than 1320 people affected by the October 28 - November 2 severe storms and flooding on the Big Island have registered for assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free Teleregistration number during the first 27days of operation, according to William L. Carwile III, of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Ed Teixeira, State Coordinating Officer.

Carwile, who is serving as the federal coordinating officer for the disaster recovery, announced today that the Teleregistration number will be available from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday only, beginning Monday December 11, 2000.

Everyone who sustained disaster-related damage or losses of any kind in the storms and flooding is encouraged to register for assistance by calling the Teleregistration number at 1-800-462-9029 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585).
