RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Duplin County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Wallace will close at noon on Saturday, December 11.

Disaster officials said declining attendance did not warrant keeping the center open. Anyone who has registered may visit any of the eight other recovery centers to check the status of an application or get questions answered. Locations of the eight open centers may be obtained by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to assist applicants.

FEMA's registration line will remain open until the application deadline on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. The registration line -- 1-800-462-9029 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585) -- is also open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dec. 14 is also the last day to turn in U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) applications. More than 76,500 residents have applied for federal and state aid to recover from losses resulting from Hurricanes Floyd and Irene.
