Baton Rouge, LA -- State, Federal, local and voluntary agencies are working in partnership to help Louisiana residents recover from the recent flooding. Following is a summary of ongoing response and recovery efforts for tropical storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili as of noon, Tuesday, October 8, 2002. The Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness (LOEP) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will update this information on a daily basis from their Joint Information Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- Damage assessment teams remain in the field to review those affected by tropical storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili.
- Emergency needs continue to be assessed.
- Locations for future DRCs are being evaluated, inspected and staffed.
- Registrations for assistance through FEMA's toll-free registration line 800-621-FEMA (3362) for tropical storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili total 47,674 and include the following:

- The U.S. Small Business Administration has received 12,420 home referrals and 2,912 business referrals as a result of registrations.
- A total of more than $6.3 million for housing assistance has been approved. Housing assistance may include lodging expense reimbursement, emergency minimal repair assistance, temporary rental assistance, and mortgage and rental assistance.
- There have been 6,706 home inspections done and returned to FEMA.
- As of today, four fixed-site Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) are open in Slidell, Houma, St. Bernard and New Orleans. A mobile DRC opened today, Tuesday, in Luling. Other DRCs will be opened in affected parishes. DRCs are designed to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their needs with personnel from state, federal and voluntary organizations who can answer questions and provide recovery information about various programs available to individuals and business owners.
