SAGE Anatomic Viewer (SAV)

What the SAGE Anatomical Viewer Can Do

The SAGE Anatomic Viewer displays gene expression in human normal and malignant tissues by shading each organ in one of ten colors, each representing a different level of gene expression. Gene expression levels are based on the analysis of counts of SAGE tags, which are either "short" (10 bp), including "extracted short" (10 bp extracted from 17bp tag), or "long" (17 bp).

Other visual displays accessed through the Anatomic Viewer page are the Digital Northern (gene expression per individual library) and the Ludwig Transcript Viewer (showing shorter alternative polyadenylated and internally primed transcripts).

Use the SAGE Anatomical Viewer

  • Find the Best Tag for a Gene

    1. Select: Short tags or Long tags

    2. Enter a value for one of the following criteria and click GO:
Gene symbol (e.g. 'GSTA2' or 'GST*')
    *GenBank accession number (e.g. 'NM_000846')
    UniGene ID (e.g. 'Hs.2')
    Gene keyword (e.g. kinase)

*Associates the accession number to a UniGene cluster and then finds the best tag for this gene.

  • Find the Best Tag for an Accession Number
Select: Short tags or Long tags

    *GenBank accession number (e.g. 'BC015523')

*Finds the most 3' virtual tag within the accession number.

  • Find the Best Gene for a Tag
    10 bp Tag
    17 bp Tag
  • Find Tags defined by NCI/Affymetrix Transcriptome Project
