NutritionQuest is a leader in the provision of health assessment and behavior change tools for health researchers and practitioners. We are the official source of the Block Food Frequency Questionnaire and a suite of other dietary and physical activity questionnaires developed under the guidance of Dr. Gladys Block.

We provide assessment tools, behavior change interventions, national survey data analysis, and other services.

Assessment Tools for Health Researchers

Overview. We provide food frequency questionnaires, physical activity questionnaires and screeners for adults and children.
Multiple modes of administration. All of our assessment tools are available in electronic as well as scannable paper-and-pencil versions. The electronic forms may be used online or offline for computer-assisted self-interviewing (CASI) or computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI).
Online assessment and analysis. Our Data-on-Demand System provides an online structure for integrated data collection, nutrient and physical activity analysis, and data management.
Tailored questionnaires. We work with researchers to develop questionnaires tailored to their population or research question.

Examples of recent dietary assessment projects:
The Sister Study, a landmark NIEHS study of diet and breast cancer, with 50,000 participants.
NASA's continuing study of dietary intake by US astronauts while on the International Space Station.

Examples of recent projects:
Large randomized trial demonstrates effectiveness of the Alive! program.
Alive! currently in use by University of California, Berkeley, faculty and staff.

National Food Intake Analyses

We conduct analyses of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data.

Examples of recent projects:
Demographics of breakfast cereal consumers.
Sources of nutrients among Food Stamp Participants.

Since our founding in 1993 we have continually redesigned and updated our questionnaires, nutrient databases and analyses as new national dietary and physical activity data have become available. Block assessment tools are designed and tested for usability, and have a long history of validation in a variety of demographic subpopulations. Our clients include research groups in virtually every major university in the US, as well as agencies of federal and state governments, Industry, and health professionals.
