Process Name Applying Wood Preservatives
Description Railroad ties, marine pilings, fence posts, and telephone poles may be pressure treated with creosote, pentachlorophenol, and ammoniacal copper arsenate (ACA) or chromated copper arsenate (CCA). [ILO Encyclo, Vol. 3 - Pages 71.1-71.12] Pentachlorophenol, creosote, and chromated copper arsenate were banned for sale in the United States to consumers as wood preservatives. CCA is still used commercially as a wood preservative. [ILO Encyclo, Vol. 3 - Pages 96.1-96.54]
