WISH-net is funded by the Office
of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH). ORWH serves
as a focal point for women's health research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The ORWH promotes, stimulates, and supports efforts to
improve the health of women through biomedical and behavioral
research on the roles of sex (biological characteristics
of being female or male) and gender (social influences
based on sex) in health and disease. ORWH works in partnership
with the NIH institutes and centers to ensure that women's
health research is part of the scientific framework at
NIH and throughout the scientific community.
ORWH would also like to recognize Public
Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R)
for its assistance in the development of this site.
PRIM&R is dedicated to creating, implementing, and
advancing the highest ethical standards in the conduct
of research. Since 1974, PRIM&R's conferences, educational
programs, and training resources have educated more
than 200,000 people around the world, serving the full
array of individuals and organizations involved in biomedical
and behavioral/social science research. Members of the
PRIM&R community include professionals representing
human and animal research protection programs, as well
as researchers, institutional officials, government
personnel, subject advocates, academics, policy makers,
pharmaceutical and biotechnology leaders, and attorneys.
