Do you enjoy experimenting with science? It can also
be exciting to enter a project or invention that you’ve
created into one of the many science competitions for
students. There are local, regional, national, and international
contests for girls of all ages. Browse through the following
competitions, arranged in order of age requirements,
in order to find one that fits your interests.

Craftsman/NSTA
Young Inventors Awards Program
The Craftsman/NSTA Young Inventors Awards Program
challenges students to use creativity and imagination
along with science, technology, and mechanical ability
to invent or modify a tool. The program is open to all
students in grades two through eight in the United States
and the U.S. Territories.
Middle School and Up
Discovery
Channel Young Scientist Challenge
The Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge
is for students in grades 5 through 8. To win a nomination
to the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge, all you
need to do is present a project at your local or regional
Science Service-affiliated science fair.
NASA
Ames Research Center Annual Space Settlement Contest
This annual contest is for 6-12th graders (11-18 years
old) from anywhere in the world. Students develop space
settlement designs and related materials.

Toshiba
ExploraVision Awards Program
ExploraVision is a competition for students of all interest,
skill, and ability levels in grades K-12. The purpose
of the competition is to encourage students to combine
their imaginations with the tools of science to create
and explore a vision of a future technology.
