Memo: DHHS-DoD CAP Partnership Agreement and CAP Kick-Off ProgramFriday, June 20, 2003 11:03 a.m.To: All HHS EmployeesFrom: Assistant Secretary for Administration and ManagementWe are pleased to announce that the Department of Health and Human Services has entered into an agreement with the Department of Defense Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) to provide assistive technology, devices, and services to DHHS employees with disabilities at no cost, as granted by the National Defense Authorization Act. For the past several years, HHS and other Federal agencies have used CAP to provide computer/electronic accommodation to individuals hired through the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) for College Students with Disabilities. This agreement will enable HHS to expand that service and benefit all HHS employees with disabilities who need assistive technology. The liaison with DoD's CAP will be in the HHS Office of Human Resources, EEO Programs Group. Listed below are designated contact persons within each OPDIV who are knowledgeable about reasonable accommodation to assist employees and managers concerning requests for reasonable accommodation from CAP. Please note, however, that requests for reasonable accommodation need not be filtered through OPDIV contacts, but may be forwarded directly to www.tricare.osd.mil/cap. We also have an internal E-mail dedicated to DHHS CAP Reasonable Accommodation Requests, inquiries, concerns, etc., which can be reached by sending messages to: dhhs.cap@hhs.gov.
