A call to action has today been issued by the Hispanic College Fund (HCF) to sign up to mentor students online on January 19, 2009, Martin Luther King Service Day, which takes place during National Mentoring Month. The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) is urging people from across the U.S. to connect with students online who are eager to attend college and transition into successful careers.

Hispanic College Fund scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching. Most applications close on March 15, 2009, however many close as soon as January 31, 2009. Students majoring in nursing, pharmacy, and hospitality are particularly encouraged to apply for scholarships due to the demands of the U.S. workforce.

Online applications for the 2009 Hispanic Youth Symposia have opened and can be accessed at www.hispanicyouth.org.

The Hispanic Youth Symposium is a four-day, three-night program that brings 100-200 Hispanic high school students to a college campus for workshops on accessing and affording college!
