COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency announced today that the incident period of the March 16 Presidential disaster declaration has been changed from March 11-13 to March 8-13, 2006.

"The additional assistance was approved following a review of damage data gathered by emergency management officials," said Federal Coordinating Officer Thomas J. Costello.

Residents and businesses of Scott, Mississippi and New Madrid Counties were impacted by severe storms beginning March 8, but not included in the original March 16, 2006, disaster declaration.

"We're pleased for the citizens of Missouri that our request for assistance for these Missouri counties were so quickly approved," said Ron Reynolds, director of the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency.

For people who are speech or hearing-impaired, the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 . Telephone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT, seven days a week.
