Precious Gifts

Your vision. It's one of the most precious gifts you have. But as you age, it can fail because of eye disease, leaving you with what is called low vision. Regular eyeglasses won't help low vision. But there are many programs and devices that can. Vision rehabilitation can help you learn new ways of doing things, at home and on the job. You can learn to use assistive devices to help you adapt to your vision loss. Special glasses will help you read and write, even see things far away. There are talking books and audio clocks that will keep you entertained and informed. You can also learn to use new technology like computer programs that enlarge words and pictures and video machines that can enlarge images. Large-type versions of books and magazines are available as well. There are many ways to help people with low vision help themselves to carry on a full and productive life.
